The Chelsea loose back sofa

Nineteenth Century design combined with modern comfort. An original country house style piece: charming, deeply inviting and full of character.

The beautiful Chelsea Loose Back has all the hand-finished detailing of the Chelsea fixed back sofa, but with comfortable back cushions to sink into.

The unique pleating detail on the arms is created individually for each sofa as the fabric is painstakingly hand-pleated and moulded to the shape of the arms.

A matching loose back chair is also available and a charming matching Chelsea footstool.

  • Solid hardwood beech frame.
  • Hand-pleating detail shaped individually to each sofa, not pre-sewn.
  • Hand-sewn piping detail to outside of arms.
  • Fully coiled sprung base and sprung back for added comfort.
  • Springs move independently, so the sofa gently envelops you.
  • Choose from a selection of seat and back interiors to find your perfect comfort.
  • Select the leg style/colour and castors to suit your home.
  • A matching chair is also available.

The sofas during this time have had normal wear including the rough and tumble when grandkids visit. There is no sign of wear to the fabric, I have washed to seat pad covers on several occasions over the years (no fading or shrinkage). I wanted to replace to seat and back pads with a firmer filling, I’m delighted to say this has been done to above and beyond my expectations, I now have a very comfortable, firmer sofa to suit my needs.
