The Chesterfield sofa

The stylish British Chesterfield never goes out of fashion. A combination of vintage refinement and contemporary comfort are the hallmarks of this design.

The Chesterfield’s distinctive deep buttoning and gorgeous rolled arms create a desirable statement piece. All our Chesterfields are handcrafted at our Northumbrian workshops. The deep buttoning is hand finished over many hours by our talented artisans. The finished sofa is simply a masterpiece-something to treasure and enjoy for many years.

Our Chesterfield sofa is named after the fourth Earl of Chesterfield (1694 – 1773). The Earl commissioned a piece of furniture that would allow a gentleman to sit upright, in the utmost comfort, without wrinkling his garments. The Chesterfield has been a fixture in country houses ever since.

  • A big thank you Delcor, over 20years ago I bought a pair of Lofa Sofas(you still had details of original order) from the Glasgow store. The sofas during this time have had normal wear including the rough and tumble when grandkids visit. There is no sign of wear to the fabric, I have washed to seat pad covers on several occasions over the years (no fading or shrinkage). I wanted to replace to seat and back pads with a firmer filling, I’m delighted to say this has been done to above and beyond my expectations, I now have a very comfortable, firmer sofa to suit my needs. Sofa looks great, and all fits perfectly, I’ve got the best of both having kept the other sofa with the pads.
