A Guide to leather furniture maintenance.
Leather cleaning and maintenance is quick, easy and can keep your chair or sofa looking brand new for longer. You may be surprised how durable this material is if you treat it correctly. For simple spillages, quickly soak and wipe the excess with a damp sponge or cloth by dabbing and blotting. It’s important to keep high quality leather furniture well looked after, after all your furniture will be a focal point for years to come. To maintain your Delcor furniture in top condition simply follow these 5 easy steps and keep it soft, supple and a sight to behold!

- Vacuum your leather furniture.
The first step in protecting your furniture is to remove any debris, crumbs or dirt before wiping it down. Leather, especially when soft and supple can scratch easily. Delicately vacuum your sofa with a soft brush extension. Focus on visible debris between the cushions and down the sides.

2. Wet wiping leather.
Once all solids have been removed, the simplest and safest way to clean your sofa or chair is to wipe it down with a damp cloth. Nubuck cloths are particularly good for cleaning, but any soft cloth or gentle sponge will work. Avoid oils or excessive water that will sink in.
3. Moisturise your leather.
To avoid letting it become brittle or hardened, moisturise the leather. Some suggest using linseed or olive oils. The potential problem with these are they will soften the material but at the cost of reducing its lifespan. Instead of oils, use a good quality saddle soap to clean and keep the leather soft.

4. Drying your furniture.
Leather should be left to dry naturally (drying out too fast can harden it) When cleaning your furniture, do not leave excessive amounts of water out, and keep the room well ventilated. This will help your chair or sofa dry faster and prevent marks and stains.
5. Condition your leather.
Once cleaned, moisturised and dry, you can condition the leather for longer lasting protection. Conditioning it will help keep the material soft and sumptuous for longer. High quality conditioners would be recommended for this. Depending on the conditioner used, follow the instructions provided but typically apply gently with a cloth, leaving a slight gloss and allow it to settle. We would recommend using a conditioner once a month to really keep your furniture luscious.
