How to bring warmth and luxury to your living room this season

Ambassador sofa in Linwood velvet

The temperatures are falling and Winter is making it’s presence known!  Now we are spending more time in our homes and want to feel warm and snug. If you fancy sprucing your living room up for Autumn/Winter, we are here to help.  We are all used to chilly times up here in Northumberland so take note of our top tips and get your room cosy and snug!

Comfort
Add texture, colour and layers with knitted blankets and throws. Oversized chunky knits will keep you toasty and they can be easily changed to suit the season and your decor. Faux fur throws come in a variety of colours and add a Wintry luxurious feel to your scheme. Layering is good, too, so invest in several, all differing in materials and colours so they complement each other. If your sofa is patterned, then go for single colours.

Colour
Forget grey and white this winter; it’s all about the colour. Add a touch of opulence and create a bold palette with rich, deep tones for the new season. Teal, ochre, black and white or gold tones are on trend this season. Other ideas for AW24 include mixing classical prints with checks or stripes, bold rich printed velvets also continue to add an element of glamour to schemes. If you are choosing a print you could opt for wallpaper, or be brave and invest in a statement sofa. If you aren’t quite so brave then think of a statement chair or footstool.

Lighting
Set the mood with dimmable lights and lamps – both of which create soft, cosy lighting. Brass, bronze and glass lamps, tables and mirrors cleverly bounce the light around a room, making it twinkle on a winter’s night and creating the feeling of warmth. Make your mirror a focal point in your living room and go as large as the room can take, being creative with placing. Large, floor-standing mirrors are set to be popular in living rooms come the new season.
Texture
Aside from the bedroom, the living room should be the most comfortable room in your home – especially during the chillier months. Soft velvets and warm merino wool provide a luxurious touch to upholstered pieces and soft furnishings. Delicately-soft nubuck leather is one of our go-to textures. Warm things up with fluffy cushions and patterned throws to create an inviting, seasonal look
